Do you depend on your makeup as your SPF?
Often in our treatment rooms we hear our clients say they do not use SPF because their makeup and or moisturizers has SPF built in it.
We found a great article from WebMD by Dermatologist Leslie Baumann, MD.
She states, "Many foundations and other makeup products offer a built-in sun protection factor (SPF). Is that your smartest beauty solution? .. Giving in to that temptation would be a mistake. Makeup does not provide enough coverage," she says. "You need seven times the normal amount of foundation and 14 times the normal amount of powder to get the sun protection factor on the label. No one does this."
To sum up, normal SPF is super important under makeup! Do not be afraid of that white chalky effect. In fact, most of the sunscreens we carry in our office; have Hyaluronic Acid, which will give you a very pretty and dewy look under your makeup.
What is your favorite sunscreen paired with your makeup? We'd love to hear!
